Jordan Leet is graduating from Mercer University‘s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to go to Georgia State to get my master’s degree in educational psychology.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Chinekwu Obidoa because I feel like I learned more in her classes than I have learned in all my years in school. She made everything feel so important, and I have knowledge I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

Going to UConn this year to cheer on the women’s basketball team in the first round of March Madness!

What was your favorite class and why?

Disability studies with Dr. Dorothy Buchli. Being able to learn about the trials and struggles that individuals with disabilities face in society and the psychology behind that was so important. This class drove me to want to work with children with disabilities in the school system.

How do you plan on changing the world?

I want to be an educational psychologist and help children who aren’t benefiting from the traditional school system. Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, and that doesn’t look the same for everyone, so being able to make education plans and giving children the best opportunities to allow them to be successful is very important.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Allow for growth and change! I came in with a set plan, and I thought that straying from that meant I would fail. However, without change I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so happy with where I am and what I have accomplished, and I wouldn’t be here without accepting change! Enjoy the experience of Mercer, and do what makes you happy!

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

I have met so many different people at Mercer. Listening to everyone’s different experiences and goals has really allowed me to connect with people and make me excited to work with and hear about people’s experiences in the future.

What makes Mercer special to you?

I have met some of the best people I will ever know at Mercer. I have friendships that I will have for the rest of my life and people that I truly want to be by my side forever. I am so thankful for the community here and for giving me some of the best memories of my life.
