Madilyn Harrell

Madilyn Harrell is graduating from Mercer University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and religion.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be working at 13WMAZ in Macon, Georgia, as a digital content producer.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

My first Mercer football game as a freshman. I got painted up and cheered on the Bears. Afterward, my friends and I went to our favorite Waffle House.

What was your favorite class and why?

I really enjoyed photojournalism. I learned how to use my vision to create something beautiful. I was constantly challenged in the class to be better, as I was in all of my classes. The professor was kind and patient, always willing to lend a hand if I couldn’t figure something out.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Take every opportunity to get involved. Mercer has so many great opportunities for students. Go to sporting events, try something new every day, explore the campus, get off campus regularly. Macon is a great place to live, and the people both at Mercer and in the community are people you should get to know.

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

By challenging me and never giving up on my vision. I was constantly put to the test to find creative ways to better myself. I got involved on campus early on and never looked back. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, so I was never afraid to be bold and ask questions.
