Mary Kathryn Stewart is graduating from Mercer University‘s Stetson-Hatcher School of Business with a Master of Business Administration degree.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan on continuing my position as the chief marketing officer for Z Beans Coffee. This is a company I wholeheartedly believe in and support — with a truly amazing team of people and a great mission.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

This is slightly embarrassing, but it always puts a smile on my face. Sophomore year, I’m walking out of the University Center through the turnstiles, except only one of my legs makes it through. My pants rip. I yell. The student at the desk laughs. Incredibly awkward but honestly hilarious. That and the time I knocked my front teeth out playing Spikeball.

What was your favorite class and why?

My favorite class was marketing research with Dr. Tammy Crutchfield in which I was first officially introduced to Z Beans. I can honestly say that my experience in that class changed my life for the better. It led me to people that have become a significant part of my life and gave me the tools necessary to be successful. This class was hands down the catalyst that led to me regaining confidence in myself.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Don’t let others define you. And don’t let societal pressures mold you into something you are not. Stay true to yourself, have faith and keep on pushing — even when it gets hard because it definitely will.

What makes Mercer special to you?

Easy. Life is hard, and Mercer was there for my lowest lows and my highest highs. It’s where I found myself — where I pulled myself out of the trenches and came out stronger.
