Natalie Galt, a 2022 graduate of Mercer University‘s School of Engineering, earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a concentration in civil engineering.

What are your plans after graduation?

I will be starting at Michael Baker International as a civil engineering associate and moving to Atlanta.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

I can’t pick one because I actually had two that went above and beyond. Dr. Natalia Cardelino and Dr. Helen Grady. They are incredible role models and go above and beyond for their students both in the classroom and out. I would not be where I am today without their love and support!

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

I met the love of my life and my best friend at Mercer, and those are memories I will cherish forever!

What was your favorite class and why?

I loved foundations with Dr. Kleio Avrithi. We got to learn some but mostly played with dirt, and she makes it even more fun than it sounds.

How do you plan on changing the world?

Honestly, I’m not sure yet. I came to Mercer because I had big plans for my future, but those plans have changed and changed and changed. So, I am really just planning on going with the flow, and hopefully one day that flow will lead to a positive impact on someone.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

I know everyone says grades do not define you, but there is truth in that. School is important, but so is your health, both physical and mental. So take time to take care of you, and I promise your grades will positively reflect your acts of service toward yourself.
