MACON, GA — McEachern Art Center (the MAC) will welcome the annual gallery exhibition of Mercer University’s 2025 graduating fine art and design students, called “The Next Chapter.” The show opens April 11 with an opening reception and will run until April 19.

This exhibition showcases the talent and body of work from the graduating senior class. This year’s show includes a particularly large class of 17 different artists and designers. The theme alludes to books, and the show transforms the gallery into a space reminiscent of a library, with each section dedicated to a different genre.

There will be a variety of disciplines exhibited, including video art, graphic design, fine art, innovative product designs and interactive installations.

The show is meant to be experienced as a series of narratives between the library shelves, with each artwork representing a distinct chapter that represents the voices of the student creators. The artist statement notes: “Each corner of the space is carefully curated to captivate and inspire, offering a variety of perspectives and creative approaches.”

Director of the MAC Johnny Cohen looks forward to the diversity of styles on display, saying the senior show is “a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their hard work in an exhibition setting.” He added, “I’m especially excited this year, as we have the largest art and design senior class ever.”

The show’s opening reception on April 11 will coincide with BEAR Day from 6-8 p.m. as a presentation of research from the art department.

The MAC is located at 332 Second St. in Macon. Admission is free and open to the public during gallery hours, 4-8 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays. Media and educators may access the gallery outside of regular hours by appointment.
