MACON/ATLANTA/SAVANNAH – Mercer University has adopted a revised academic calendar for the upcoming fall semester in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The revised calendar will minimize travel-associated breaks, meet accreditation-mandated contact hours per credit hour requirements, preserve the general University calendar and minimize online instruction for face-to-face courses.

Changes for the Macon residential campus include the following:

  • Most classes will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
  • The Labor Day holiday (Sept. 7) and Fall Break (Oct. 1-2) will not be observed, and classes will be held on those days.
  • The last day of classes for fall term will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 24. Students will not return to campus until the start of the spring semester as scheduled on Jan. 7, 2021.
  • Final exams will be administered online only on Dec. 3-4 and 7-9.

The first day of classes for the Atlanta campus and the Regional Academic Centers is Monday, Aug. 17. The Labor Day holiday (Sept. 7) will not be observed, and classes will be held on that day. Revised calendars for those programs, schools and colleges are posted on the Registrar’s Office website.

The School of Medicine, School of Law, and programs offered entirely online will have slightly different calendars that will be communicated to students enrolled in those programs.
