MACON – Mercer University and Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) recently signed a new transfer articulation agreement through 2024.

“We are pleased to partner with our good neighbor Central Georgia Technical College to offer more opportunities for students in the Central Georgia area to successfully achieve their educational and professional goals through a transfer pathway that leads to a Mercer bachelor’s degree,” said Mercer Provost Dr. D. Scott Davis. “Central Georgia Technical College’s demonstrated commitment to preparing students for personal and career success aligns with our mission, and I am confident that this new pathway will benefit many students immediately and in the years to come.”

Under the terms of the agreement, CGTC students enrolled in eligible associate degree programs may pursue bachelor’s degrees from the College of Liberal Arts and the College of Professional Advancement in areas such as communication, criminal justice leadership, health informatics, healthcare leadership, homeland security and emergency management, human resources administration and development, human services, information technology and informatics, liberal studies, organizational leadership, psychology, software application development and human computer interaction, and more.

“With nearly 800 associate degree students from CGTC looking for the next place to continue their education, we certainly hope many of them will apply to bachelor’s degree programs at Mercer,” said CGTC President Dr. Ivan H. Allen. “By signing this agreement we give members of this community an opportunity to stay here and become an integral part of Central Georgia’s future workforce.”

“Our Mercer Next pathway program was created to facilitate our articulation agreements with Central Georgia Technical College and all of our Technical College System of Georgia partners,” added Theo Anderson Jr., assistant vice president of enrollment management for Mercer’s Atlanta campus and regional academic centers. “Through our Mercer Next program, we will actively engage students at Central Georgia Technical College with events hosted on both of our campuses designed to educate them on the academic pathways and support available to them at Mercer that will build upon their associate degrees. This is a great opportunity for students to further their education, advance in their chosen career field and ultimately maximize their earning potential.”

Representatives of Mercer and CGTC gathered on the University’s Macon campus Oct. 21 for a formal signing of the agreement.
