Mercer received a No. 12 ranking in the American Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll following its 42-7 win at Wofford on Oct. 1.

The Bears moved up one spot in the poll from the previous week, making this their highest ranking in program history.

Mercer is one of three teams from the Southern Conference ranked in the poll. Chattanooga is ranked No. 9 and Samford is ranked No. 15.

Next up, the Bears welcome Western Carolina to Five Star Stadium on Oct. 8. Western Carolina defeated VMI 38-17 last week.
