MACON – Mercer Innovation Center (MIC) Open MIC Night this week will feature local entrepreneur Derrick Kendrick on March 17 at 6:30 p.m.
Kendrick, a 2013 graduate of Central Georgia Technical College, has more than 12 years of experience as a computer aided design (CAD) technician in manufacturing and telecommunications with expertise in mechanical drafting and 3-D modeling. He has worked as a technical illustrator creating various technical documents for several military contractors.
He is active in Macon's arts and Christian communities. His creative works include abstract art, modern art, creative brainstorming, robotic concepts, solar power design, video game creation and handbag design. He has served his church for many years as a deacon, spokesman, musician, singer and events organizer for faith-based outreach programs.
Additionally, he is actively involved in networking with business professionals and creative entities to jumpstart a new innovative business venture in downtown Macon. The business model is intended to be a catalyst and creative design incubator for aspiring entrepreneurs seeking to develop their own businesses.
Earlier this year, the Mercer Innovation Center began hosting Open MIC Night as part of its programming intended to develop the already rich and thriving culture of entrepreneurism at Mercer, as well as to foster relationships, network and collaborate with entrepreneurs, the local community, other universities and beyond.
