Mercer-Piedmont Heart Physician Assistant Residency in Advanced Cardiology Graduates its Fourth Resident

Emily Gilbert, PA-C graduated from the Mercer-Piedmont Heart Physician Assistant Residency in Advanced Cardiology in September. Ms. Gilbert was awarded a certificate of training by Mercer University and Piedmont Heart Institute for her successful completion of this demanding residency program.

Ms. Gilbert participated in the admission and consultation of cardiac patients to the intensive care units, and rotated through cardiac subspecialties such as general and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, and cardiothoracic surgery. Ms. Gilbert acquired the skills necessary to contribute to the management of advanced cardiac disease pathophysiology, and worked with experts in advanced imaging techniques such as cardiac catheterization, echocardiography, and cardiac MR/CT.

The Mercer-Piedmont Physician Assistant Residency in Advanced Cardiology is a collaborate effort between the Mercer University Physician Assistant Program and Piedmont Heart Institute. This intensive 12-month residency is the first Advanced Cardiology Physician Assistant Residency program of its kind in the nation.
