NuVasive Vice Chairman, Mercer Alumnus Pat Miles to Conclude 2016-2017 Executive Forum

ATLANTA/MACON – Mercer University's 2016-2017 Executive Forum, presented by BB&T, will conclude with presentations in Atlanta and Macon by Pat Miles, vice chairman of NuVasive, on May 16.

Miles will speak to Executive Forum members and invited guests at noon at the Capital City Club in downtown Atlanta and at 7 p.m. in the Presidents Dining Room on the Macon campus.

NuVasive is an innovative medical device company focused on developing minimally disruptive surgical products and procedures for the spine. 

A 1988 graduate of the University's Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics and former Mercer baseball player, Miles has served as vice chairman of the company since September and as a member of its board of directors since August. He is responsible for enhancing the NuVasive's strategic plans for the future of spine surgery and supporting technology development.  

The third-largest medical device company in the global spine industry, NuVasive features more than 90 products spanning lumbar, thoracic and cervical applications, neuromonitoring services, and a biologics portfolio. These products have been used in hundreds of thousands of spine surgeries.

NuVasive, which currently employs more than 2,300 people globally, had revenues of $962 million in 2016, including sales in over 30 countries.

Miles previously served as the company's president and chief operating officer from February 2015-September 2016; president of global products and services from October 2011-January 2015; president of the Americas from January 2010-September 2011; executive vice president of product marketing and development from January 2007-December 2009; senior vice president of marketing from December 2004-January 2007; and vice president, marketing, from January 2001-December 2004. He has more than 25 years of experience in the orthopedic industry, including prior roles with Medtronic Sofamor Danek and Smith & Nephew.

Miles received his Bachelor of Science in finance from Mercer was a varsity letterman for the baseball team.

He currently resides in Rancho Santa Fe, California, with his family near NuVasive's San Diego corporate headquarters.
