Two Mercer Law alums, James Phillip “Phil” Bond ('83), and Richard Gerikitis ('81), were honored during the First Annual Mercer Law Alumni Dinner on Friday, March 6, in Atlanta.
Bond, who received the Outstanding Alumnus Award, is a Senior Attorney at Georgia Legal Services Program in Macon. Bond is a worthy recipient of this award, which is presented to a Mercer Law graduate for service to humanity and dedication to the legal profession, which have fostered the ideals of Mercer Law School. He has influenced hundreds of Mercer Law students by giving generously of his time to speak in law school classes and by regularly supervising student externs in the Macon office of GLSP. He is a role model and mentor for those law students and also for members of the middle Georgia bench and bar, demonstrating the highest level of professionalism and an ethic of care for his clients. Bond gives voice to those who might otherwise be voiceless and is a powerful advocate for increasing access to justice for all Georgians.
