Dr. Vo holds a prosthetic leg

Dr. Ha Van Vo has helped change the lives of thousands with the innovative prosthetic leg and hand that he developed.

His products use a universal socket technology and are low cost and lightweight.

Since 2009, Dr. Vo, Mercer University Distinguished University Professor of Biomedical Engineering, and teams of Mercer students and faculty have traveled to Vietnam to fit amputees with the prosthetic leg during Mercer On Mission trips.

In June 2018, the 10,000th Vietnamese amputee was fit with the leg prosthetic. In addition, 200 prosthetic hands have been fit on residents during the past two trips.

Mercer Made is a series in which we feature notable people, businesses, products and inventions connected to Mercer University.
