It takes a lot of people to make Mercer University the institution that it is. The students have and always will be the lifeblood of our University, but Mercer wouldn’t be Mercer without expert faculty members to pass on their knowledge and highly-skilled staff members to manage day-to-day operations. Our “Worker Bears” series highlights the Mercer employees who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to care for our University and our students.

Meet Jamie Brown

Title: Assistant director of Regional Academic Center Operations and an adjunct faculty member for the College of Professional Advancement

How long she’s worked at Mercer: Since June 2007

What she does: Brown oversees the day-to-day operations of Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers. Among many other duties, she connects potential students with the admissions team and current students with professors, advisers and the student success and enrollment management teams. She also helps students with health and immunization documents, obtains and distributes marketing materials, spearheads events highlighting and celebrating distance learners and students at Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers, distributes honor cords to graduating veterans and active duty service members, and troubleshoots technology-related questions from students, faculty and staff. Brown was responsible for gathering and submitting all information needed for the University to receive the 2020-2021 Military Friendly Top 10 Gold School honor, the highest tier of all military-friendly honors.

What she loves most about her work: “Working with and serving our military and veteran students is one of the most rewarding parts of my career,” Brown said. In addition, she loves “working with a team that is more like family to help students achieve their successful completion of their academic degrees.”
