It takes a lot of people to make Mercer University the institution that it is. The students have and always will be the lifeblood of our University, but Mercer wouldn’t be Mercer without expert faculty members to pass on their knowledge and highly-skilled staff members to manage day-to-day operations. Our “Worker Bears” series highlights the Mercer employees who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to care for our University and our students.

Meet Daniel Hoppe

Title: National Management Resources director of housekeeping and events for the Atlanta campus

How long he’s worked at Mercer: Almost three years

What he does: Hoppe is in charge of supplies and budgeting for National Management Resources, which Mercer contracts with for custodial services, for the Atlanta campus. He helps deliver supplies to all the custodians, checks buildings daily and performs regular inspections. He also makes sure tables and chairs are set up for campus events and furniture is moved where it needs to be.

“Anything to do with the cleaning side and setup side, I’m here for that,” he said.

What he loves most about his work: “Mostly the people at Mercer. That’s what keeps us going more than anything. I’ve had a lot of people here for 13-14 years who are wonderful, National staff and Mercer staff.”
