MACON – The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings, a special institute within Mercer University's Townsend School of Music, presents the Mendelssohn Sextet, Tuesday, Dec. 1, as part of the Fabian Concert Series. The performance will take place in Fickling Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Acclaimed pianist Anne-Marie McDermott will join the Center's own Amy Schwartz Moretti (violin) and Peter Lloyd (double bass), Fabian favorite Edward Arron (cello), newcomer Che-Yen Chen (viola), and 2013 Center alum Tim Richardson (viola) in what The New York Times has called “a dazzlingly indulgent treat.”

“Mendelssohn revived the music of Bach,” said Moretti, director of The Robert McDuffie Center for Strings. “We are so excited to have Anne-Marie joining us for this concert, along with the other fine musicians from around the country.”

Moretti recently arrived home from a European tour with the Ehnes Quartet that took the award-winning ensemble from London's Wigore Hall to Geneva and a closing concert at the Louvre in Paris.

While touring, the internationally recognized quartet also recorded a new album to be released this fall on Onyx Records.

“My travels help to inspire my teaching,” said Moretti. “I have so much to share with my students.”

Admission to the Fabian Series is $12 at the door; all Mercer students, faculty and staff with valid I.D. receive one free ticket. To reserve tickets, call (478) 301-5470.
