MACON – With Mercer University Homecoming and Macon Octoberfest scheduled for this weekend, traffic and parking will be affected as thousands descend on Tattnall Square Park and the University campus for tailgating, concerts and Saturday afternoon's football game pitting Mercer vs. VMI.

Streets around Tattnall Square Park will be affected beginning early Thursday morning and continuing through Sunday night. All vehicles must be moved from the parallel spaces on Coleman Avenue by Wednesday at 11:59 p.m. in preparation for Octoberfest set-up. Coleman Avenue, from College Street to Adams Street, will be reduced to one lane on Thursday. By 4 p.m. on Thursday, this stretch of Coleman Avenue will be closed to all traffic and will remain closed no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday. During the road closure, all vehicular traffic will be rerouted around Tattnall Square Park via Adams Street and College Street.

All of the Mercer lots used for football gameday parking must be cleared by Friday at 10:30 p.m., as standard gameday parking configuration will be enforced on Saturday. To view a map of these lots, click here.

Parking for Macon Octoberfest will not be available on Mercer's campus. Octoberfest guests are encouraged to utilize public parking northeast of Tattnall Square Park, as well as the Mount de Sales Academy parking lots. To view a map of these areas, click here.
