Expect big crowds as alumni and friends return to Mercer for Homecoming weekend. The No. 8 Bears will face the Chattanooga Mocs at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Five Star Stadium. Here are three things to know before you go.
A win clinches SoCon title outright

Mercer holds a share of the Southern Conference championship and secured the automatic bid to the FCS playoffs after its 49-47 win over Western Carolina last week. A Homecoming victory against the Mocs will make the Bears undefeated in the SoCon and clinch the championship for Mercer outright. The Bears would be the first SoCon team to win consecutive outright titles since Appalachian State in 2008 and 2009. Either way, the playoffs are in Mercer’s future.
Drivin N Cryin headlines pre-game concert

Pre-game festivities start at 10 a.m. on Black Field, culminating at 12:45 p.m. with a performance from Southern rock band Drivin N Cryin. Leading up to the show, fans can enjoy the Fall Line beer garden and Dr Pepper Fansville, featuring inflatables for kids. At 12:30 p.m., join us for the Bear Walk as the football team, band and cheerleaders make their way to Five Star Stadium. Alumni should look for the alumni tailgate and hospitality tent, which will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Several of Mercer’s colleges and schools also will be hosting alumni tailgates. Check out the Homecoming schedule for more information. Gates to Five Star Stadium open at 2 p.m.
