JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Buccaneers' Ben Rhoda grabbed a Travis Strong miss and scored a bucket with 18.2 seconds remaining and Tim Smith added two free throws with 7.5 seconds on the clock to give East Tennessee State University an 84-81 win as the Mercer men's basketball team fell just short in its bid to stretch its conference road winning streak to three games.

MACON, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team will be featured on ESPN's "Pride of the Program" during Tuesday's telecast of the Florida-Mississippi game at 8 p.m.
The highlight will focus on the Bears' turn-around 2002-03 season when Mark Slonaker's club went 23-6 and won the Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season title after going 6-23 during the 2001-02 season.
At that time, the turn-around was the best in NCAA history.

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Mercer men's basketball team topped league-leading Kennesaw State, 77-70, Saturday night in Atlantic Sun Conference action at the KSU Convocation Center. The Bears avenged an earlier loss to the Owls suffered just nine days ago in Macon.
After guard Jacob Skogen opened the scoring with a 12-foot jumper in the lane, the Owls went on a 7-2 run, grabbing an early 7-4 lead. But the Bears battled back with a 9-2 run of their own to take a 13-7 lead with just over 13 minutes left in the opening half. Skogen's 3-pointer from the left side capped the run.

MACON, Ga. - Down two at halftime, the Mercer women's basketball team battled back for a 61-57 win over first-place East Tennessee State Saturday afternoon at the University Center.
A pair of 3-pointers from Erin Keller book sparked an opening run at the beginning of the game for Mercer as Tanya Kessenich, Sarah Russell and Zsaquez Flucker all contributed during the stretch. Michelle DeVault sank a trio of treys during a 14-4 run for Lady Bucs, tying things at 16.

MACON, Ga. - After seeing its five-game winning streak snapped last weekend, the Mercer women's basketball team shot a season-high 52.9 percent from the field to defeat Atlantic Sun newcomer Kennesaw State, 69-55.
After a slow start, the Bears used a 12-4 run over two-minute streak in the first half to take a 22-11 lead midway through. The Lady Owls trimmed the lead down to five with 7:19 remaining in the half off a Shavonder Clarke jumper, but Tanya Kessenich pushed the Bears' lead back to nine with consecutive layups.
Mercer (9-7, 6-3 A-Sun) continued to dominate the paint in the second half led by Sarah Russell and Kessenich. The Bears took advantage of the Lady Owls collapsing on the paint as Sally Skeldon hit back-to-back 3-pointers to give Mercer a 10-point lead with 13:24 remaining.
