It takes a lot of people to make Mercer University the institution that it is. The students have and always will be the lifeblood of our University, but Mercer wouldn’t be Mercer without expert faculty members to pass on their knowledge and highly-skilled staff members to manage day-to-day operations. Our “Worker Bears” series highlights the Mercer employees who work tirelessly, often behind the scenes, to care for our University and our students.

Meet David Pelt

Title: Shipping and receiving clerk on the Macon campus

How long he’s worked at Mercer: 20 years

What he does: “My duties are to receive shipments for the University from freight trucks (18-wheelers), UPS, FedEx, and any other courier or delivery. I distribute these items to the departments around campus and also ship out packages for departments to the delivery services. Any inquiries regarding these shipments are also directed to me.”

What he loves most about his work: “I love that every day I get to go out and meet the wonderful people employed here. I also enjoy helping employees with shipments, be it getting a delivery to them quickly or tracking down a missing parcel. I really enjoy the mobility of the job and helping people!”
