MACON – Mercer Maniacs – the University's student-led spirit organization – and the Office of Campus Life and Student Involvement will host a watch party on Saturday, noon-8 p.m., in Mercer Village for the football team's game at Auburn University.

Montpelier Avenue from Linden Avenue to Winship Street will be closed for the watch party, which is free and open to the community.

Participants are invited to bring their tailgating equipment, food and accessories. Mercer Village restaurants will be selling food, and additional tables and chairs will be set up in the street.

Mercer's marching band will perform and ESPN's college football coverage will be shown on a big screen leading up to the 4 p.m. contest between the Bears and 15th-ranked Tigers at Jordan-Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama. The game is Mercer's first against a Southeastern Conference opponent since the resumption of the football program in 2013.

The watch party will be canceled in the event of inclement weather.
