Brittany Jones is graduating from Mercer University’s College of Professional Advancement with a Bachelor of Science in organizational leadership.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to step confidently into my next chapter — building a career in operations and business strategy where I can make a meaningful impact. I’m focused on growth, leadership and positioning myself in spaces that challenge me and allow me to evolve. This is just the beginning for me, and I’m intentional about creating a path that aligns with both my goals and my purpose.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

My favorite professor was Dr. Lynn W. Clemons. She was definitely a tough cookie, but I truly appreciated that about her. She saw my potential and pushed me to do better and give my best in every situation. As a working adult, I think you need people like that who challenge you and hold you accountable. She not only impacted me as a professor, but also as my advisor, and I’m grateful for the role she played in my growth.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

My advice to incoming students is this: Yes, it will be challenging, and, yes, there will be sacrifices, but it’s all worth it. Stay motivated, stay determined and remain grounded. Keep going, even when it gets tough, because you are capable of more than you think. There is nothing we cannot do. We are Mercer Bears.

How did Mercer prepare you for your future?

Mercer prepared me for my future by strengthening both my leadership and my voice. Through my experiences, I learned how to lead with empathy, communicate effectively, and navigate challenges with confidence. It pushed me to grow not only academically but personally, teaching me the importance of resilience, collaboration and staying grounded in purpose. I’m leaving Mercer not just with a degree but with the confidence to step into any room and make an impact.

What makes Mercer special to you?

What makes Mercer special to me is the personal connection it holds through my family. It’s my mom’s alma mater, and I remember wearing her Mercer sweatshirts throughout the years without even realizing that one day I would become a student there myself. Now, being able to graduate from the same institution makes the experience full-circle and incredibly meaningful.
