Deepthy Varghese recently graduated from Mercer University’s College of Nursing with a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

What are your plans after graduation?

I plan to continue my clinical work and begin research in cardiology at Emory University Hospital. Excited for what’s ahead!

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Dr. Daphnee Stewart, clinical assistant professor. Her passion for teaching and dedication to student success made a lasting impact on me.

What is one of your favorite Mercer memories?

As a Double Bear (master’s and doctorate), I loved sitting out on the patio with friends, having lunch and chatting about all things nursing. Those moments reminded me we were in it together.

How do you plan on changing the world?

By delivering compassionate, evidence-based care and advancing innovation in cardiology through clinical research. One patient, one project, one breakthrough at a time.

What advice do you have for incoming students?

Be kind and patient with yourself. Growth takes time. Use every resource Mercer offers. You’re not alone in this journey.

What makes Mercer special to you?

It’s the sense of community, the supportive faculty and the lifelong friendships that made Mercer feel like home.
