The Mercer men's basketball team, fresh off claiming its first-ever outright Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship, and the women's team, on the verge of its first 20-win season in more than two decades, enter this week's General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Men's and Women's Basketball Championships at Hawkins Arena as the No. 1 and No. 3 seeds, respectively. Eight men's and eight women's teams will begin play on Wednesday with the championship games to be played at Noon on Saturday for the men and 5:30 p.m. for the women. The men's championship game will be televised on ESPN 2. The Mercer men open play against No. 8 Lipscomb at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, and the women's first round game against No 6 Jacksonville is Thursday at Noon.
