Tripp Morgan stands in front of kegs

A Mercer University alumnus is behind a growing craft beer business.

Dr. Tripp Morgan, a 2001 Mercer School of Medicine graduate and a vascular surgeon in Albany, opened Pretoria Fields Collective in 2017.

Dr. Morgan and his father, Harris, own farms in Camilla, Pretoria and western Lee County and grow the wheat, rye, fruits and other crops used to make the beer. The beer is made at a brewery in downtown Albany, which also has a tasting room with 10 to 12 beers on tap. Pretoria Fields Collective distributes its products throughout Georgia and has a core lineup of five beers, with additional rotating seasonal and limited release selections throughout the year.

The business also has been making hand sanitizer to help address the supply shortage amid COVID-19.

Mercer Made is a series in which we feature notable people, businesses, products and inventions connected to Mercer University.
