Townsend School of Music Piano Student Awarded Steinway Society of Atlanta Scholarship

MACON – Mercer University sophomore Zach Smith was one of four college students recently awarded a scholarship by the Steinway Society of Atlanta.

Smith, a native of Smyrna, is a student of Dr. Ian Altman, associate professor of piano in Mercer's Townsend School of Music.

The Steinway Society of Atlanta annually presents financial awards to a select number of Georgia's collegiate piano students who represent excellence in both individual passion and institutional vision.

A scholarship recital was held Sept. 20 in Peachtree City, where Smith was honored.
