Emerson Named To ESPN All-Academic Team

MACON, Ga.-  Junior forward Will Emerson was named to the 2005 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America Men’s Basketball District III team announced Thursday.
 
The St. Mary’s, Ga., native carries a perfect 4.0 grade average while majoring in biology.
 
“We are proud of Will’s accomplishments in the classroom,” said Mercer head coach Mark Slonaker. “He has challenged himself to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA, and he has worked extremely hard to reach that goal. Will is a shining example of a true student-athlete. He represents Mercer University both on and off the court in the highest possible manner.”
 
Already a three-time Academic All-Conference honoree, Emerson has started every game for the Bears this season and is third on the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game. Emerson has scored in double figures in 21 of 23 games and recorded five double-doubles.
 
Emerson is joined on the team by Brian Bender of Gardner-Webb, Alex Loughton of Old Dominion, Chris Paul of Wake Forest and Shawan Robinson of Clemson.
