ATLANTA - Beginning on Feb. 26 Mercer University will offer a preparation course for the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT). A program of Mercer's College of Continuing and Professional Studies, the course will be offered on Mercer's Cecil B. Day Campus in Atlanta on Tuesdays from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. between Feb. 26 and April 8.
McDONOUGH, Ga. - Mercer University's Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics, which was recently recognized No. 1 for "Greatest Opportunity for Women" and one of the "Best 290 Business Schools" by the Princeton Review, will hold an information session for its 16-month Professional MBA program at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12. The event will be held in the Hudgins Room at the Henry County Chamber of Commerce, 1709 Highway 20 West in McDonough.

MACON - Mercer University's Townsend School of Music will host a free concert at 2 p.m. Monday, January 21, as the final event of the fifth International Conductors Workshop held Thursday-Monday, January 17-21. Open to the public, the concert will be held in Fickling Hall of the McCorkle Music Building on Mercer's Macon campus. The program will feature works by Beethoven, Brahms, Debussy and Haydn, among others.
MACON - Mercer University President William D. Underwood today announced the appointment of Dr. Wallace L. Daniel, former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Baylor University, as Mercer's new provost, effective July 1, 2008. Dr. Daniel, a prominent historian, succeeds Dr. Horace W. Fleming Jr., who has served the University with distinction on two separate occasions. "Wallace Daniel is respected as an inspiring teacher and an accomplished scholar, has been highly successful in a variety of academic leadership roles, and has a leadership style that is collaborative and transparent," Underwood said. "He assumes this key leadership position at a critical juncture in Mercer's 175-year history. MACON, Ga. - Playing in the featured "A-Sun Game of the Week" the Mercer men's basketball team will be looking to start the New Year off on the right foot as the Bears welcome VMI and the Keydets' potent offense to the University Center for the first time, marking Mercer's final non-conference contest of the 2007-08 campaign. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the University Center.
