MACON - Mercer University's National Engineering Advisory Board elected Dan Nale, P.E. Ph.D., vice president for Mid-Cabin Programs at Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. as chairman on Wednesday, April 25. Nale has been a board member since 1999 and succeeds the board's longest serving chairman, L. Donald LaTorre, who led the board for 12 years.
ATLANTA - Mercer University will hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 5, for nearly 200 future health care professionals in pharmacy and nursing at its Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus, 3001 Mercer University Drive, Atlanta. The two ceremonies are the first of 10 the University will hold in May as more than 1,500 students graduate from its 11 schools and colleges.

Mercer is featured in the 2008 edition of "America's Best Value Colleges," released today. The guide profiles 165 colleges chosen for their excellent academics, generous financial aid packages and/or relatively low costs of attendance. WHO: Thirty-eight teams, made up of 124 Mercer University first-year engineering students, along with a number of spectators, including parents, professors and students will be on hand for the Mercer School of Engineering's annual Introduction to Engineering Design Competition.
MACON - Christopher Gardner, whose life story served as the basis for the hit movie "The Pursuit of Happyness" featuring Will Smith, will speak Saturday on Mercer's Grand Opera House at 7 p.m.
MACON - Mercer University students will present their research projects during an Undergraduate Research Symposium this Friday, April 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Tarver Library on Mercer's Macon campus. The event will feature 27 posters, highlighting projects completed by 40 Mercer undergraduate students who conducted research with professors from the School of Medicine, the School of Engineering and the College of Liberal Arts.
