LITHIA SPRINGS - Mercer University's Douglas County Regional Academic Center will begin its first session of the summer term on Friday, May 19. Adults interested in earning a bachelor's degree through the center's evening and weekend programs are invited to a free drop-in informational session at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18. Academic advisors, professors, financial planning representatives and admissions counselors will be available to answer questions and discuss programs.
MACON - Mercer University will present Academic All-American basketball player William L. Emerson with the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award, one of the two highest honors given to undergraduates, during its commencement on Saturday, May 13.
"In all my dealings with athletes over the last 30 some years, I've never known a better 'student-athlete,' and he's the first athlete to win the Sullivan award since I've been here," said Bobby Pope, Mercer's Director of Athletics for the past 17 years. ATLANTA - Mercer University will hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 5, for nearly 200 future health care professionals in pharmacy and nursing at its Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus, 3001 Mercer University Drive, Atlanta. MACON - Mercer University announces the appointment of Michael Steven Leonard, Ph.D., as senior associate dean of the School of Engineering, effective June 1.
In this new role, Leonard will work closely with Mercer School of Engineering Dean Dayne Aldridge to provide general oversight of the School of Engineering and represent the School to internal and external constituencies. He will be responsible for the Bachelor of Science in Engineering Program and the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management Program. He also will assist with the Center for Excellence in Engineering Education and the various activities required for maintaining accreditation.

WHY: The students enrolled in EGR 107 - Introduction to Engineering Design - have been designing and building vehicles using K'Nex building kits. These vehicles will compete in a variety of events at the School of Engineering. Each design category will have five to seven design teams competing. This is a fun and challenging way for students to put their designs to the test and learn the skills necessary to succeed in the engineering field.
