EASTMAN - Mercer University's Eastman Regional Academic Center will begin its second session of spring semester on Friday, March 10. Adults interested in earning a bachelor's degree through the Center's evening and weekend programs should apply at www.mercerdegree.com.   Located at 605 2nd Ave. S.W., adjacent to the Ocmulgee Library Annex, Mercer's Eastman Center is designed specifically with an evening and weekend format for adult learners who want to begin or complete a bachelor's degree at one of the nation's top universities. MACON-Mercer University's Townsend School of Music will present "Thanksgiving Song," a concert featuring three of the University's choirs, at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 19, in Fickling Hall of the McCorkle Music Building on Mercer's Macon campus.     "Thanksgiving Song" will introduce the new Mercer Men's Choir, directed by Dr. John E. Simons, Mercer music professor and director of graduate studies and the Townsend-McAfee Institute. The concert will also include performances by the Mercer Women's Chamber Choir and the Mercer Singers, both under the direction of Dr. Stanley L. Roberts, Mercer music professor and director of choral activities. The three choirs will perform a program of varied choral works that include both a cappella and accompanied pieces.   The concert is free and open to the public. MACON - Dr. Walter B. Shurden, an emeritus professor of Christianity at Mercer and one of the country's best-known Baptist historians, will return to Mercer this month as the 2011 Harry Vaughan Smith Distinguished Visiting Professor of Christianity. Dr. Shurden will deliver the 20th anniversary edition of this distinguished series, giving three lectures this month. Each lecture is free and open to the public.
