MACON - Mercer University has been granted a chapter in Sigma Xi, a global honor society of scientists and engineers that recognizes scientific achievement. The Mercer University Chapter is the first in Central Georgia and will serve not only as the Society chapter for the university, but also as the chapter for the entire area.
Macon- Dennis Drummond of Cedartown received one of Mercer University's top honors at commencement in the Macon Coliseum on Saturday, May 14. Mercer University President R. Kirby Godsey presented him with the Griffin B. Bell Award for Community Service-the only award selected from students from all of the University's 10 colleges and schools.   The son of Micky and Carolyn Drummond of Cedartown, Drummond graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education from Mercer's Tift College of Education May 14.   Since arriving on the Mercer Campus, he has shown dedication to the Mercer as well as the broader community. ATLANTA - Students and faculty in Mercer University's Physician Assistant Studies program will kick off national PA Week on Oct. 6 when they visit the state capitol to attend Gov. Nathan Deal's scheduled signing of a proclamation officially declaring PA Week in Georgia.

MACON - Jon Reep, winner of season 5 of "Last Comic Standing," highlights Mercer University's free "Live on the Lawn" event on Saturday, Oct. 2, as part of Mercer Family Weekend. The event begins at 7 p.m. It will include music, ice cream and comedy on the historic quad of Mercer's Macon campus. The event is open to the public, but the comedy show is recommended for adults and children 15 years and up.
ATLANTA - Mercer University's Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics will hold an information session on July 24 for all its programs on the Atlanta campus. The free information session will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, in the Trustees Dining room of Mercer's Atlanta campus, 3001 Mercer University Drive. The programs to be featured include the School's new Master of Accountancy and joint Bachelor of Business Administration/ Master of Business Administration program, as well as the Executive MBA and Flexible MBA.
