ATLANTA - The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) has awarded a research grant to Mercer University Southern School of Pharmacy faculty member Christine Y. Hon for her study on histamine pharmacodynamics and genotypes. A resident of DeKalb County, Hon was one of 14 faculty members in the United States selected to receive a grant under the AACP's New Investigators Program (NIP). Supported by the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education, the NIP assists the research careers of new pharmacy faculty by providing start-up funding for their research.

Mercer University's Tift College of Education is now offering a Master of Education degree in Community Counseling. The degree, which began in fall 2001, is designed to prepare the students to function as a counselor in a variety of community settings, including mental health centers, community agencies, hospitals, residential treatment centers, corrections and a variety of other helping and human service oriented programs.
