Some 1,500 Mercer Students to Participate in Commencements

An estimated 1,563 students are expected to participate in graduation ceremonies on Mercer’s Macon and Atlanta campuses over the next month.  The University will hold nine commencement ceremonies and hear from an array of renowned speakers.
 
Mercer University President R. Kirby Godsey will also present four honorary degrees. U.S. Rep. Nathan Deal will be awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree at the Walter F. George School of Law commencement May 10.
 
Wyche Fowler Jr., who served as a previous U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator and Ambassador to Saudia Arabia, will be presented an honorary doctor of laws degree May 11 at the Macon commencement for the College of Liberal Arts, Eugene W. Stetson School of Business and Economics, School of Engineering, Tift College of Education and College of Continuing and Professional Studies.
 
Jimmy Allen, noted author, consultant and churchman, will be awarded an honorary doctor of humanities degree at the James and Carolyn McAfee School of Theology commencement May 17.
 
Nancy Dickey, president and vice chancellor for health affairs at The Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, will be given an honorary doctor of science degree at the School of Medicine commencement May 31.
