Mercer University School of Medicine graduate John T. (Temp) Phillips IV was recognized at the national meeting of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, earning the top award for his presentation titled "Not All Salads are Good for Your Heart."
MACON - Mercer University President R. Kirby Godsey announced May 22 the appointment of Dr. Horace W. Fleming Jr. as executive vice president, effective July 1.
  Mercer's 14th annual "Big" Auction to benefit the athletic program will be held at the Grand Opera House Tuesday, May 21.     Silent items will be up for bid from 12 noon until 7 p.m., with the live items going on the block at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge. Texas Cattle Company restaurant will provide refreshments this year for those in attendance.   Many great items will be up for bid including trips to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Disney World and Hilton Head, as well as sports items like a Georgia-Florida football weekend; art work featuring the last four baseball players to win the Triple Crown, autographed by all four; a Willie Mays signed jersey; and many more items.     For more information, go to the Big Auction web page.
